Mannequins in the Outback

Stumbling across the internet in the never ending quest for mannequin related material has led us to a piece of news that shows that it really is impossible to resist dressing a mannequin, if you happen across one during your day.

A piece on the ABC website in Australia features a fantastic story about a set of thirty mannequin torsos inspiring people in the outback, in a sort of strange fashion / art installation.

Artist Tony Sweeting, formerly of Canberra but now living in the Bega Valley, has set up the torsos on the front of his property near Wyndham and it seems that locals, passing motorists, even tattoo bedecked bikers, cannot resist dressing them up.

Tony explains in the interview (which you can hear on the site) that the impromptu fashion shows occur usually late in the evening, with the sound of their barking dogs indication that a nocturnal styling has commenced.

The range of garments that the amateur Lagerfeld’s and McCartney’s favour is varied, ranging from sparkly evening wear to more practical sporting items. Listen to the full interview with Tony and appreciate for yourself this mannequin inspired madness.

Now, if you fancy setting up your own mannequin art installation, we can help you out. We have a choice of male and female mannequins that will look terrific amongst your flower beds (or in your shop if you want to walk a more conventional path) or some fantastic torsos if they match your ‘vision’ more accurately.

This is a prime example of the sort of mannequin related craziness that we love to hear about and will indeed, be actively seeking out, on the internet over the coming weeks and months.
